Wash N Go Style: The Side Part Teeny Weeny Afro

I woke up this morning feeling like playing with my makeup. But what's a cute face without cute hair. So, I decided to do a little wash n go style with a side part.

For my wash n go, I used water, ecostyler gel argan oil and cantu shea butter leave in conditioner.

After co-washing my hair, I massaged about a quarter size of leave-in conditioner into my hair. Using too much can cause hair to flake when your teeny weeny afro dries.

Once the leave-in conditioner was massaged into my hair well, I added about forefinger scoop full of ecostyler. I apply it like I would lotion by sharing the scoop on both hands then distributing it into my hair. Again, I want to use just enough to make my curls pop. My hair is fine and wavy in the top, so oversaturating it with gel will weigh it down too much, resulting in flat hair in the crown area.

Next, I took a rattail comb and parted in slightly. I wear my parts on the left. I applied just a smidge of ecostyler to my edges to smooth them down. I also added it to each side of the part so that it would stand out more when my hair dried.

My hair is very short. It may be about a half-inch-long.Since it's so short it only took me about 15 minutes start to finish. It took a couple of hours to dry, but if I wanted I could have dried it under the hair dryer. I've had my fill of sitting under hairdryers so air-drying is fine with me. :)

I like the side part in my teeny weeny afro, because it changes my look up a bit. Little changes can go a long way.

How do you rock your twa hairstyle? Do you have a favorite wash n go style?

Yvonne: Rocking Her TWA and Loving It

Yvonne's Rockin' TWA Today at work, I met this nice young lady named Yvonne. Off course, she is rocking her TWA. She was kind enough to allow me to take a quick head shot of her on her way to lunch and share her TWA story with me. Thanks, Yvonne!  I have been natural for about 1 year, I got so tired of the chemicals, allergic reactions, and my hair growing a certain length and falling out.  So when I went natural, I didn’t do a big chop.  I had just taken braids out of my hair and was dissatisfied with my own hair, so I went to the barber and took it from there.   I am definitely going to keep my hair this length, not only is it a blessing on time, but I think it gives a woman’s face definition.  I always say, any woman can wear long hair, but not every woman can rock short hair!!!!   I am originally from Flint, MI and short hair was always a favorite in the Midwest. . .especially during the fall, your hair is a part of your wardrobe, you dress aroun...

My TWA Hair Affair

I love my TWA hair. The funny thing is I didn’t realize how much I loved it until I went natural and tried to grow out this full head of flowing curls. I’m not a very patient person at all, so trying to grow my hair out was not the best idea. First of all, I hate the in-between stage which is right around six months post-big chop. Second of all, I hate trying to style my hair. I like to wash and go. Also, about 60% of my hair is a wavy texture so the ends are really straight. Finally, I just look really good (at least I think so) with TWA hair.  So how did I fall in love with TWA hair? Continue reading to find out .
